Establishment of an American-Ukrainian Cultural Center and Relationship Museum

The American-Ukrainian Cultural Center is envisioned as a “center of the future” in the heart of New York — a four-floor, 16,000-square-foot cultural center, interactive museum and Ukrainian restaurant devoted to the history of relations between the United States and Ukraine.

Inspired by the “Museum of the Formation of the Ukrainian Nation,” which unites historical research with modern technology, the center’s mission is to celebrate the glorious moments of Ukrainian history, foster pride and unity around the idea of national revival, and strengthen a positive image of Ukraine worldwide.

Its purpose is to reveal the mutual historical, cultural, economic and political influences between the two nations — from early Ukrainian migration to America and the achievements of that community, to America’s influence in Ukraine and the deep cooperation that followed the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Museum Exhibitions

• Ukrainians in America — the contribution of Ukrainians to American life — famous personalities in art, education, science, business, finance and technology.
• Holodomor & America — the Holodomor and its impact on America.
• American Influence in Ukraine — the historic and modern influence of the United States in Ukraine.
• Formation of the Ukrainian Nation — the history of the formation of the Ukrainian nation.
• Modern Ukraine — today’s Ukraine and its current war for freedom.

The Experience

• Interactive & Multimedia — dioramas, holograms, touchscreens and media guides in eight languages bring the exhibitions to life.
• Lifelike Exhibits — high-quality silicone figures with natural hair and handcrafted costumes and weapons.
• Ukrainian Restaurant & Banquet Halls — a ground-floor ethnic restaurant serving dishes from 17th-century recipes, two banquet halls styled as traditional Ukrainian houses and castles, homemade liqueurs, staff in national dress, and traditional music.

How We Work

The center is led by founder Valery Galan — a philanthropist and businessman — together with the Assembly of the World Diasporas and community and cultural partners, combining curatorial research, modern exhibition technology and hospitality into a single destination.

Designed as a place “every tourist must visit,” the center is intended to become both a cultural landmark of New York and a bridge of understanding between the American and Ukrainian peoples.
