Establishment of the international humanitarian movement “Citizen of the World’s Cities”

Project description
“Citizens of the Cities of the World — for Tolerance and Cooperation” is an international public movement that builds tolerant relations of cooperation and respect between countries and peoples through public diplomacy and international tourism.
The movement invites mayors, tourism leaders and community figures to take part, turning travellers into lasting ambassadors for the cities they visit. It is led jointly by the Assembly of the World Diasporas and the Citizen of the World Cities Corporation.
How It Works
- Honorary City Citizenship — foreign visitors receive the honorary title “Citizen of [City]” — for example, “Citizen of Jerusalem” — together with associated benefits.
- City Ambassadors — honorary citizens may hold diplomatic-style representative roles — such as Ambassador or Cultural Attaché — for the city in their home countries.
- Messengers & Outreach — participants carry out promotional work within their communities, organizations and business circles to advance the interests and image of the cities they represent.
- Founding Partners — cities, mayors, tourism companies and community leaders are invited to become founding partners and help shape the movement.

How We Work
The initiative is a joint startup of the Assembly of the World Diasporas and the Citizen of the World Cities Corporation (registered in Illinois, USA), working with city administrations, tourism organizations and community leaders to launch the movement city by city.
By linking honorary citizenship to real cultural and diplomatic engagement, the movement turns international tourism into a lasting bridge of goodwill between peoples.
