For many in the diaspora, identity is not a single answer but an ongoing conversation.
Passing it on
The leaders we spoke with returned again and again to the question of the next generation. Preserving identity, they agreed, depends on:
- Language and tradition kept alive in everyday family life.
- Cultural spaces where younger generations can explore their roots.
- Openness that lets heritage grow rather than freeze in place.
Identity is not something we inherit and keep unchanged — it is something we carry forward, and gently reshape, with every generation.
